ACADEMIES & SCHOOLS

The United States Coast Guard is the governing agency responsible for regulation related to testing and licensure of mariners in the inland waterways industry. There are however many educational institutions located throughout the United States that provides all or a portion of the required classroom and on-the-job training needed to sit for select licensure exams. A certain percentage of these providers are degree-granting institutions associated with the U.S. Military as well as various major and regional universities.

For your information, the National Maritime Center (NMC) has launched a new Help Line providing up-to-date information regarding the licensing process at 888.427.5662. You may also find USCG licensing & documentation information at the following website: www.uscg.mil/nmc/
