CLEARWATER, Fla. — Coast Guard members competed Saturday in the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Robert P. “Bob” Parlaman Sr. Memorial Invitational Event in Clearwater.
More than 60 marksmen competed in the 5th annual two-gun match.
The participants included active and retired law enforcement members from 11 agencies around the Tampa Bay area.
“Events like this are important because we get to interact with out partner agencies outside of official operations which creates lasting relationships,” said Coast Guard Lt. Simpson, a crew member from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg who competed in the event.
The sheriff’s office hosted the competition to honor the memory of their former member Robert “Bob” Parlaman Sr., who was a firearms instructor and competition shooter.
Tampa Police Department Detective Mike Merritt won the overall competition.
Competitors were required to use personal firearms and equipment.
