BOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for three missing men aboard the Dad Sea Cave, a 23-foot well craft, in Cape Cod Bay, Cape Cod Tuesday after the vessel failed to return home when scheduled. A friend of the crew reported to Coast Guard Southeastern New England watchstanders at about 7 p.m. that Carlos Amaral, Dylan Amaral, and Mario Fialho were supposed to come back from their fishing trip around 2 p.m., but have not. CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Coast Guard air and boat crews are searching for an overdue boater last seen near Gladis' Hole, approximately 20 miles north of Port Mansfield off Padre Island, Tuesday. Missing is George Young, 50, of Combes, Texas. SAN FRANCISCO — Coast Guard personnel began conducting dockside exams and safety spot-checks Tuesday in San Francisco to identify discrepancies aboard fishing vessels prior to the Dungeness Crab season.  The checks are scheduled to continue through Thursday at commercial fishing ports from Monterey to Crescent City and are part of the Coast Guard's Operation Safe Crab, which is an outreach initiative to reduce the loss of lives and fishing vessels in the West Coast crab fleet. ... NEW YORK — Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook rescued three people in distress near Sea Bright, New Jersey, Tuesday. BOSTON — The Coast Guard and local authorities are searching for a man who was fishing on the rocks at Rafes Chasm Park Tuesday and was swept out to sea. Members from the Boston police department notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Gloucester at about 2:50 p.m. reporting two people were fishing on the rocks and were swept out to sea. One of the fishermen made it back to shore safely, but lost sight of his fishing partner. The missing man is reported to be in his early 30's wearing blue jeans and black and white sneakers.... CORRECTION: The initial news release incorrectly stated that the rescued man was taken to the hospital. After he was rescued, EMTs evaluated and released him at the pier. He was not taken to a hospital. Additionally, the length of the vessel was incorrect in the first news release. The vessel is 18 feet long, not 22 feet as previously reported. SEATTLE — Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound will be conducting several exercises at the Port Townsend Ferry Terminal Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Increased levels of activity will be noticed during these hours.
